12 Months!

What a year we have had together! It's really hard to believe that it was an entire year ago that you came into our lives and forever changed us. Each month I think, "It can't get better than this!" and each month you prove me wrong. You continue to amaze us each day. Here are some things you have been up to:

Talking- We really don't hear a lot of "baby talk" from you. For the most part, you speak clearly and use real words. You are full of questions right now. Your favorite ones are "Who is that?" especially when the phone rings, "What is that?", and "What is it?". Usually "What is it?" really means, "I want it.". You also love to nod/shake your head when asked a question. We have fun asking you all kinds of silly questions just to see what your response will be. Other words you know are puppy, eye, Mama, Dada, uh-oh, fish, and baby. I'm sure there are more, but that's all I can think of right now.

Cruising- Yep, you're still holding onto everything and refusing to walk on your own. You seem to be pretty unsteady when we hold your hands so I don't think you're quite ready yet, but you are faster than anything I've ever seen when it comes to crawling. This method of "transportation" seems to be working just fine for you and you really couldn't care less about learning a new way right now.

Eating- Okay, this one is a stretch because you really don't eat very much. I will say, however, that you aren't a picky eater. So far we haven't found anything that you won't eat, you just don't want much of anything. I would say that oranges, Popsicles, green beans, Gold Fish, and veggie straws are your favorites, but you really like all fruit a lot.

Sleeping- You are a terrific sleeper. Selfishly, we keep you up later at night than we probably should so that we get a chance to play with you before bed. You usually go to bed between 9:00 and 9:30 and sleep until 6:30 when you get up to get ready for the sitter's. Most days you take two 2 1/2 to 3 hour naps a day, one at 9 and one around 2. You are not a light sleeper, but you are easy to wake up if we need you to be awake. You almost always wake up in a wonderful mood regardless of how long you've been asleep, what a blessing!

Playing- Music is still one of your most favorite things and you also love to be outside. We've had a lot of fun playing in your baby pool cooling off in this hot weather! You also have a new-found love for bubbles and balls. There's not any certain toy that you gravitate toward, but if I had to pick I would say your books are still your favorite. We find you sneaking off all the time to go read your books in your room. You love to read to us and you also love for us to read to you. You come up with new dance moves all the time, mesmerizing your audience.

Learning New Tricks- You can now point to my eye and nose when asked to do so. You love to take things out of a container and then put them all back in just to do it over and over again. You point to things and ask, "What is that?". Throwing things is also a new trick you have. You'll take blocks out of the container and toss them away from you then you crawl around collecting all of your treasures.

You weigh 18.4 pounds and you're still 30 inches long. Twelve month clothes are still big on you, but we can get most of them to at least stay on you now. You're still wearing a size 2 shoe and 3 diaper. You also have your two teeth on the bottom and one has broken through the gums on top, but that's it. Hopefully when you get more teeth you'll become more interested in eating.

Thank you, sweet girl, for the most amazing year your daddy and I could have ever dreamed of!
