Our Day in Pictures

I get fussed at for not updating the blog often enough, but I have the hardest time making time for it during the week. I'll try to do better on the weekends, but those are filling up fast as well so I'm not making any promises.

I also have a hard time coming up with things to write so today I decided to keep the camera close and take pictures throughout the day. Here's our Saturday in pictures.

Sleepy head! I LOVE her hair! =-)

We did laundry:

We played A LOT. Her newest favorite "toy" is the Belk bag, go figure!

Morgan is crawling all over the place, but today her dress was in her way so I had a solution... =-)

We filed papers for my students.

We went to dinner at Chick-fil-A. Can I just take a moment and say how much I love and appreciate this place? I've always loved the principles the company is founded upon, and everyone knows the food is delicious, but now that I have a baby I like it even more. I love that when I arrive, a high chair will be waiting for me with a nice plastic place mat (with adhesive strips!) and an alcohol wipe placed neatly inside.

After dinner, we went to Target and Walgreens. Our sweet baby fell asleep on the way home so we skipped bath time tonight and went straight to the books, bottle, and bed. Three out of the four "B's" isn't bad on the weekend. I'll bathe her in the morning before church, don't worry. =-)

So there you go. It's not an overly exciting life, but it's our life and we love living it!

Championship Celebration Morgan & Mommy Style

Auburn celebrated winning the National Championship last weekend and, as a 3 time graduate of the wonderful University, I was extremely excited about going. Well, a musician spouse and an eight month old daughter changed my plans. Instead of attending the actual celebration, Morgan and I celebrated our own way.

First she had to help her daddy tune his mandolin before he left. He's a Bama fan so he wouldn't have enjoyed our day very much. =o)

We dressed in Auburn gear,

ate orange foods,

drank out of our orange and blue cup,

hung out with Auburn alum,

celebrated with family at Laredo's,

and, of course, reminded everyone that Auburn is number 1!

8 Months!

What an exciting and full month this has been! This was the month of several firsts for you! You celebrated your first Christmas

and New Years!

You learned to crawl

and stand on your own!

You also started eating lots of soft solid foods like beans, puffs, veggie straws, oranges, and Mum Mums.
One week after you turned 7 months old, you started crawling. You were a VERY fast learner! One day you decided to get on "all fours" where you rocked back and forth. The next day you were going backwards, and the day after that you were crawling EVERYWHERE! I am convinced that having presents under the Christmas tree was the only motivation you needed. I can't tell you how many presents we re-wrapped this year, but it was worth it.

You love to play with all of your new toys. Your favorites are the ones that light up and play music. You are also amazed with books. So far I haven't found a book that you don't like.

You are THE HAPPIEST baby on the planet! We know that those teeth aren't far away, but nobody would ever know it based on your demeanor. You are all smiles all of the time!

You are still a very petite little thing weighing in at 16 1/2 pounds and 28 inches in length. 3-6 month clothes still fit the best, but a lot of them are too short so we stick to lots of dresses. You're wearing a size 2 diaper as well as a size 2 shoe.

You're doing pretty good eating "real food" like beans, bread, crackers, etc., but you still don't care for a bottle too much. We can only get you to drink 4 ounces every 4 hours. Even if we fix you 6, you'll stop with 2 ounces left. I guess you're a girl who knows when you're full.

You are a great sleeper! You go to bed around 8:00 after we've done our 4 B's (bath, books, bottle, bed) and you sleep until around 6:45 when I have to wake you up to take you to the babysitter. You also take 3 naps each day, 2 that are 1 1/2 - 2 hours, and one that is a quick 30 minute nap around 5:00 pm.

You look forward to seeing Annabelle and Miss Katy each day and it was a sad day when we had to say goodbye to Miss Katy when she moved.

The only thing you seem to dislike at the moment is the vacuum cleaner. Even if you're in another room you fret when it turns on.

Other fun, new things you're into this month are:
sticking the tip of your tongue out and waving it from side to side
waving to yourself and saying "Hey!"
talking non-stop to all of your toys
really studying things
Dancing! You love to wiggle any time you hear music.

Sweet angel, I can't begin to tell you how much your daddy and I love you! You are so much fun right now and we are loving every moment we get to spend with you. Thank you for filling our lives with so much joy!

Happy New Year!

This is how Morgan officially brought in 2011...

That's not very much fun so we did this photo shoot later when she was good and awake! Happy New Year!

Big Poppa's Turn

It was late when we finally arrived in Brewton for the final stop on our Christmas tour and this is what our little elf looked like.

She woke up when we were getting her out of her seat and wanted to play some more. That's my girl, make the most of Christmas! We gave her a present to open, but she wasn't having any part of it so we said goodnight and her first Christmas day came to an end.

The next morning we got up, ate breakfast, and went to church. We were spoiled on this trip and had my dad to ourselves since both of my sisters were out of town. This is the first year we haven't all been together on Christmas and that was a little sad, but I have to admit that seeing my dad be able to interact with Morgan and focus on her was wonderful.

After church we ate lunch and it was present time once more. Morgan was her normal, happy self this time and had a blast showing off her gift opening skills and playing with the bows and fun new toys.

We had so much fun celebrating the birth of our Savior with family this year. It was wonderful to get to experience this special time with our little angel and we enjoyed watching it unfold through the eyes of a little one. Life is good!
